Mobile Ethnography:

Selfie Videos

Want to peek into your users’ world? We’ll recruit 30 people in your demographic and ask them to take a selfie videos, in their own environment, while they complete a task. We can also ask written survey questions as they upload their videos.

Example video prompts:

Over the next 2 days, every time you make coffee please record yourself doing it. Talk through your process for preparing coffee.

Show us where your Amazon Echo is in your house and answer the following questions: (1) What types of things do you typically do with it? (2) When do you find yourself using it most?


How They Do It: Screen Recordings

We’ll recruit 30 people in your demographic and ask them to record 5-10 minute videos of their screens while they complete a task. We can also couple these video requests with written survey questions.

Show us your process for finding a place to stay for your upcoming vacation.

Show us your favorite way to keep up with news on your phone.

What Google products do you currently use on your phone to keep up with your interests? Walk through each one and tell us what you like and don’t like about it.

Guerrilla Research: Intercept Interviews + Personas

Get rapid insights about who your key audiences are and what they need from you. Research is conducted from start-to-finish in 2 weeks.

Ideal for consumer-focused businesses, this includes “on-the-street” intercept interviews with at least 50 participants.

Based on these interviews, we will help segment your audience and create 2-4 customer personas that tell you how different customers think and behave, and what drives them. You’ll find out precisely what resonates and what doesn’t for each audience.


Usability Testing + Expert UX Review

For an existing website or mobile app, we will recruit and conduct remote moderated usability testing with 8-10 consumers. You’ll get testing results, coupled with expert recommendations in the areas of navigation and organization, interaction, content, and presentation. Together, these elements all impact design.


Interviews + Journey Mapping

We conduct lean research from start-to-finish in 3 weeks with one audience group. This may include guerrilla testing, contextual interviews, and/or ethnography, with 8-10 participants. We will deliver a journey map that exhibits key touchpoints and emotional peaks through the customer's experience, in addition to recommendations that highlight key opportunity areas.


Design Thinking Workshop + Advance User Research

We will conduct 2 days of lean-inspired user research, followed by a Design Thinking workshop. The purpose of this workshop will be to set alignment with the team, and work toward the creation of a new product, service, or feature in as little as a week. This workshop will be modeled after a Google Design Sprint, with a time-constrained, five-phase process that uses design thinking with the aim of reducing the risk by failing fast and testing repeatedly.
